Staff are helpful and offer good advice, I didn't pay too much either
When I was having tyre issues with my bike i called ahead and asked if I could bring my bike in for them to have a look at. The guy that looked after me was really friendly, nice and honest. In the end the tyre only needed to be deflated and re-inflated and the problem was fixed. But I seriously rate these guys as I know next to nothing about bikes and these guys explained what had happened and fixed it.
Just went here with a problem with my bike, popped in everyone really friendly. Problem identified quickly and offered plenty of reasonable options to resolve. Cheers again!
Believe me when I say these guys are really unfriendly and rip off merchants too. I went to get a puncture repaired on my mountain bike, and was quoted 5 on the door for fitting an inner tube I provided. Quite reasonable I thought. So I went in - and despite providing my own replacement inner tube, they refused to fit it after taking the wheel off. They said they only fit their own tubes - which are identical to the one I provided. Charged me 7 for a single inner tube which is 1.50 from Decathlon. Then they said, oh wait you need rim tape too! They refused to do anything if they didn't fit it, despite it not really being a requirement. An extra 4. Worse still, after that was all done, I asked if they could take a look at my rear brake which didn't work properly - and they said they only change the brakes on "good bikes". I will admit, the bike was only worth around 200 new and is 5 or 6 years old, but the guys in here were just laughing and saying to take it elsewhere. I ended up cycling home with non-functioning brakes on the back. They made me feel really silly just for having a perfectly good budget bike.I get the feeling they just want to sell you their fancy 1000+ bikes and rip you off for maintenance - not good for your average joe who just wants a normal job doing to his perfectly good, albeit not expensive, bike. Avoid at all costs unless you have a premium bike and are prepared to fork out a load of cash - otherwise best to go to Will's Wheels on Stockport Road.
Just had an amazing experience there - called up 5 mins before I arrived asking if they could sort my back wheel out and they said yes and gave the prices for the services when I asked for them. Brought it in and the young guy was incredibly helpful, just got on with fixing it straight away and the whole thing took 5 minutes. To top it off when I went to pay him he said there was no charge! So thank you for that, it has made my week and meant I can ride my bike again. Fully recommend going here!
