Visited Manchester to see a show at the MEN, looked for somewhere to spend a couple of hours free time. Perfect, the younger generation were eager to get hands on. Very educational, interesting, wish we could have spent more time here. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Manchester
A fantastic museum. The aviation hall is currently closed but there's still a huge amount to see. Britain's oldest railway is on site, and the other exhibits are fantastic. A real joy to visit. The staff are wonderful too. Not to be missed on a trip to Manchester
Your enjoyment of this museum will be measured by your love of steam engines, cotton mills, and the history of electricity... If you fall into this group consider the score as 5 stars.Some effort made to entertain the kids, including smaller toddlers, but overall the displays can be a little 'dry' for smaller people.The ubiquitous museum shop and cafe are present.Entry is free but a donation is encouraged. Guide books and a sticker book for the youngsters is extra.
This is a great place to visit. You'll get a real feel for Manchester's industrial and scientific heritage. It's lovely to walk around and there many different areas with different types of exhibits.Your children will love it, as there are places to play and to try things out. The cafe serves tasty coffee and Danishes and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
Nice museum is free to enter give you good information on the desk. The exhibits were interesting and had a focus on the impact of the technology on Manchester. Good balanced view on history too.The electricity exhibit was also good to see. Lots of useful info for kids and adults alike. Would very much recommend the visit. Though I think the electricity one was a temporary show.
