Great if you're trying to access South Manchester. Will save you a trip across the city from MCRV! Make sure you check your ticket and are at the right Manchester train station!
Busy station with decent facilities, and a Sainsbury's and a bar nearby in case you have a gap between trains, as I recently discovered when I missed my connecting train and had an hour to kill. It's a well maintained station.

Historic building with an interesting wooden arched construction method employed to cover the five platforms: four through, and one bay platform. Useful stop off point for Oxford Street, St Peter's Square, and theatre-land.
