Victoria Station in Manchester has been much improved in recent years, but the station still lacks some really basic amenities and facilities that you would expect at a railway station of this size.
Well what can I say...we love.the railways..
No toilets inside the paid area which is absurd considering how often trains are actually on time. And most of the trains that go in and out of the station are diesel, which makes the carbon monoxide levels in carparks seem good because of the low ceiling and lack of ventilation in the station. So if your train is delayed probably a bad idea to go through the ticket barriers early.
If you want to save yourself a trip across the city definitely route into Victoria to land on the North side. Make sure you check your ticket and are at the right Manchester train station! Great connect if you're heading to Lime Street as an away fan travelling for football!
Its a train station so your experience is probably going to vary based on whether the train was on time etc.But as a station its a great little place. The decor and look and feel are evocative of the times when rail travel was still had the possibility of some romance. The only problem with the station is that its a little awkward to get to by car if you are picking up or dropping off.But I find it an easy and interesting walk.
