This court has seen a bit of a make-over of late, with the addition of (largely unused) new courtrooms for the overflow of magistrates work (which never materialised).Sadly, the cash machine, Coke machine and the like have all gone now. There is a canteen (part of the Whittington's brand - part of Compass) for members of the public and for legal professionals but it is expensive, produces little actual food and is not significantly used except for coffee. This is something of a common theme in court canteens these days.The building itself is fairing reasonably well and is kept clean. The courts are modern but all but a couple lack any natural light, which makes them migraine-inducing if you are to be there for a while.The staff are friendly and will help as much as they can and this court has all of the usual facilities for those with specific access or usage requirements.For the main Crown Court of the second or third most important legal centre in the UK, a little investment would have been nice to make good what was there rather than to build unnecessary sections but there is little chance of that now.The nearest parking is on Bridge Street though it is very expensive. Looking to the other side of the bridge, you will find cheaper options.The nearest coffee is from Waitrose (and one is free per day if you have a Waitrose card) but most of the eateries nearby are expensive. If you get stuck and want something cheap but substantial, go to nearby Essy's. It is in St Mary's Parsonage some 50 yards away.
